The violent behavior of Legia Warsaw fans before Aston Villa’s Europa Conference League clash has prompted an official complaint to UEFA from the Premier League club. Aston Villa’s 2-1 victory was overshadowed by clashes between Legia hooligans and police officers, resulting in injuries to four officers. Despite starting on time and not allowing Legia fans in, a breakaway group managed to throw bottles towards Villa fans from outside the stadium. Villa had reduced Legia’s ticket allocation due to fears of crowd trouble and criticized the Polish club for their lack of cooperation with authorities. The club lodged an official complaint with UEFA and expressed disappointment in Legia Warsaw officials’ behavior. Aston Villa intends to make further representations to UEFA to prevent similar safety risks in the future.
