Baker’s Dominant Performance Propels LSU to 66-62 Victory Against North Texas

LSU secured a 66-62 victory over North Texas in the Charleston Classic, breaking a two-game losing streak. Will Baker led with 16 points, while Derek Fountain contributed 14. Jordan Wright added 12 points for the Tigers.

For North Texas, Jason Edwards stood out with 22 points, including four 3-pointers and eight free throws. Rubin Jones and John Buggs III also made notable contributions with 15 and 14 points, respectively.

Despite North Texas initially taking a four-point lead, LSU managed to secure the win by capitalizing on their inside shooting. They scored six of their last nine shots from inside the arc, while North Texas struggled with their shooting, especially from beyond the 3-point line.

The game saw 22 lead changes, with LSU eventually securing a seven-point lead in the final minute. LSU’s strong shooting allowed them to outscore North Texas in the paint 36-10. On the other hand, North Texas struggled, only shooting 32% overall and making just 12 of 32 3-point attempts.

Following their victory, LSU is set to play for fifth place on Sunday. Meanwhile, North Texas will compete for seventh place in the tournament.
