The Lakers improved to 5-0 at home and 2-0 in tournament play thanks to their first comfortable victory of the season. Santi Aldama scored a career-high 24 points for the Grizzlies, but they lost two players to injury during the game. Despite making 20 3-pointers, the Grizzlies struggled to score in the paint against the Lakers’ defensive effort led by Davis. The first quarter saw a heated altercation between the teams, resulting in five technical fouls being handed out. Los Angeles rolled to a 74-51 halftime lead, with Davis contributing 15 points and eight rebounds. James returned to the court after missing the previous game, but the Lakers were without Gabe Vincent and Jarred Vanderbilt.
