NBA: Phoenix Suns Edge Out Utah Jazz in Double Overtime Thriller, Led by Kevin Durant’s 39 Points

Kevin Durant scored 39 points, 10 assists and eight rebounds for the Phoenix Suns in a 140-137 double overtime victory against the Utah Jazz on Sunday.

Devin Booker contributed 26 points and eight assists, while Eric Gordon added 20 points and six assists. Jusuf Nurkic had 18 points and 12 rebounds, and Grayson Allen made the game-winning basket with 14 points.

Lauri Markkanen led the Jazz with 38 points and 17 rebounds, followed by Talen Horton-Tucker with 25 points, and Jordan Clarkson with 22. Collin Sexton and John Collins added 18 and 15 points, respectively.

Despite their advantage in second-chance and fastbreak points, Utah still suffered a loss.

Durant’s consecutive baskets and three free throws gave the Suns a 135-130 lead in the second overtime.

Jazz tied the game with Collins’ corner 3, but Allen responded with a go-ahead 3-pointer to prevent Utah from taking the lead.

A foul was initially called on Durant, but it was overturned upon review. This would have sent Markkanen to the free-throw line in the final seconds of the game.

Utah rallied from an 11-point deficit in the first half and forced overtime with a late layup from Markkanen.

Gordon’s scoring gave Phoenix a lead in the first overtime, but Sexton’s putback layup forced a second overtime, ultimately leading to the Suns’ victory.

Markkanen’s free throws and Sexton’s layup forced the game into double overtime, but the Suns ultimately emerged victorious.
