Neeraj Yadav, Para Athlete, Tests Positive for Banned Substances, Puts India’s Asian Para Games Gold Medals at Risk

India might lose two gold medals from the Hangzhou Asian Para Games as Neeraj Yadav failed a dope test conducted by the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA). Yadav tested positive for anabolic steroids just six days before his departure for Hangzhou. If found guilty, India will drop to sixth place from fifth in the final standings. The Paralympic Committee of India’s athletics head coach has written to NADA, disputing the findings. He has seven days to defend himself from the Anti-Doping Rule Violation. If Yadav is found guilty, India will lose the two gold medals he won at the Hangzhou Asian Para Games. They are awaiting the results of the two dope tests given by Yadav in Hangzhou. Despite returning positive for anabolic steroids, NADA has not provisionally suspended Yadav. Yadav, who was diagnosed with Post-Polio Residual Paralysis at seven, has a history of winning gold medals in various sports.
