The Athletic reported that the NBA is looking into these allegations. NBA spokesman Mike Bass confirmed that they are investigating the matter. When questioned about the accusation, Giddey declined to comment. OKC Thunder coach Mark Daigneault also refused to discuss the matter, calling it a personal issue. Giddey continues to play for the Thunder, with impressive statistics. He was a first-round pick in 2021 and was named to the All-Rookie second team. He also had a strong performance at the World Cup this summer, averaging 19.4 points for the Australian team.
