The 16-year-old sensation, Sunelita Toppo, is set to play as a forward for India in the FIH Hockey Women’s Junior World Cup 2023 in Santiago, Chile. She expressed her excitement to showcase her skills on the world stage. Sunelita discovered her love for hockey after watching women play at a festival in her village and expressed her desire to play to her father. Despite a shoulder injury in 2018, Sunelita adapted her game to prevent future injuries and represented Odisha in the National Games in Gujarat in 2022. She made her debut for the Indian Junior Women’s Hockey Team at the Junior Women’s Asia Cup in 2023 and received a call-up for the Senior Women’s National Coaching Camp. Sunelita’s goal is to win the Gold medal for India at the Junior Women’s Hockey World Cup. She feels honored to represent her country and is confident in her team’s abilities.
