Red Bull have elicited the wrath of some fans following the catch in the holiday package deal they offer for MLS side New York Red Bull’s home opener.
The deal offered by the side included tickets to the game, a mug and a collectable figure, however, the catch was that if the side were to play their opener against Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami, each ticket would be replaced with passes for RBNY’s second home fixture.
Messi’s move to the David Beckham-owner Inter Miami has helped in bolstering the profile of the league as a whole in the North American region, with the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner bringing his aura and fan following along with him.

Messi decided to make the switch to the United States of America after being disillusioned with his time at the French capital city club PSG. The Argentine genius spent two seasons at the Parisian club, after his unceremonious exit from his beloved Barcelona.
Despite domestic success in France, repeated failure on the continental level in the elite European tournament, the UEFA Champions League, caused fans to scapegoat star players at the club.
Messi and Brazilian star Neymar were boo-ed and whistled by the fans as the relationships between the players and the club soured.
