The University of Virginia is delaying the release of the investigation findings into the 2022 campus shooting that resulted in the death of three students and injuries to two others. The release is being postponed to avoid impacting the pending trial of the suspect, Christopher Jones. The university consulted with the Albemarle County Commonwealth’s Attorney before making this decision. The suspect, a former UVA student and football team member, is facing charges of aggravated murder, aggravated malicious wounding, and firearms-related counts. The university leaders requested an outside review to investigate safety policies, response to the violence, and prior efforts to assess the potential threat posed by Jones. The Attorney General’s office has also refused to release the report.
