Brock Lesnar, one of the most decorated wrestlers in history, is rumored to make a comeback to WWE soon. Last seen at SummerSlam, he lost to Cody Rhodes in a rubber match. Rhodes sealed the deal with three back-to-back Cross Rhodes.
He remained out of the wrestling circuit since then, with fans eagerly waiting for his return. According to a recent report by the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (WON), Lesnar could feature at the upcoming WWE Royal Rumble, a pay-per-view event scheduled at the Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida on January 27, 2024.
The match between Lesnar and Rhodes at SummerSlam was the final stage of a trilogy. The rivalry developed following WrestleMania 39, where Rhodes challenged Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship but failed to claim the title. On a post-WrestleMania broadcast, Lesnar pledged to team up with Rhodes in a bid to clash against Reigns and Solo Sikoa in a tag-team match.
Lesnar attacked Rhodes unexpectedly, leading to a new matchup. Following that, Rhodes and Lesnar fought at WrestleMania Backlash and at Night of Champions before putting an end to the rivalry at SummerSlam.
Reports claimed that Brock Lesnar might get a match with the longest-reigning Intercontinental champion, Gunther at WrestleMania 40. If true, WWE might have decided to feature Lesnar at Royal Rumble to develop his storyline for WrestleMania 40, to be hosted in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in April next year.
Since rejoining WWE in 2021, Lesnar has been involved in high-profile fights. He initiated a feud with Universal Champion Roman Reigns after his comeback at SummerSlam. The two veterans had several pay-per-view matches.
Reigns put his title on the line when Lesnar became his opponent at Crown Jewel, WrestleMania, and SummerSlam in 2022. Reigns triumphed in the end to solidify his status as the undisputed WWE champion.
